The p_public team, under the auspices of the Architects Association of Chania, organizes for the 4th consecutive year, the p_public festival. The main line of the festival, comprises of two days of public discussions and presentations, from emerging scientists, artists and creative teams from Greece and abroad. Meanwhile, a series of events and installations in the city of Chania aspire to alter ephemerally or even permanently, the urban and natural landscape of the city.
During the last few years, a massive amount of events necessitate greater rates of evolution through adjustment or disruption. Based on that, this year we will discuss the evolution of public space.
According to Darwin's theory of evolution [which considers human being as a multicellular organism], a living creature when affected by external factors, mutates itself to survive. Respectively, the city as a living structure [living organism], adjusts its form and function under the influence of various parameters. Consequently, public space as a city component, is affected by its surrounding environment.
In the light of the above connotations, we invite you to think, express your opinions and actively participate in the discussions and the events that will be held in the city of Chania on 7-9 June 2013.
